Machine Manufacturing Up
The
casino industry definitely felt the
impact of the recession this past year,
with their revenues down for the first
time – and for many of them this was not
a welcome site. They chose to try and
cut corners wherever they could in an
attempt to stay afloat until the economy
turned itself around. However, it would
seem that one of those areas was not
necessarily slot machines.
According to a recent study, slot
machine manufacturers had an increase in
production by 6.7% over the year before.
In fact, online gambling revenues are up
giving them a $12.7 billion bottom line.
Gaming revenues dropped by 4.7% in 2008,
but this did not seem to have an effect
on the actual preparing of the slot
machines.
This proves that no matter what is going
on, slot machines still need to be made.
They say that the increase in slot
machine manufacturing is not a big
surprise because they have seen an
increase over the past five years – each
year it gets higher. Many wonder who is
taking these slot machines if revenues
are still falling. The answer is the
number of casinos that have opened.
Each year there are more and more
casinos opening – leaving someone
needing to make the slot machines for
the casino. There is also the fact that
as they have been creating all of these
slot machines, they have also been
creating new kinds of slot machines
which then need to go in and replace the
older slot machines – which allows for
the casinos to stay updated.
